The subject reach of Atwood Channel previously existed as a trapezoidal-concrete channel and suffered major damages during the 2005 storm season. The damaged open channel was replaced by a below ground reinforced concrete box (RCB) 10 feet wide, 7.5 feet high and 330 feet long. The new RCB provides greater hydraulic conveyance and added safety to the nearby residents and other downstream facilities.
